Here is Simon’s General Store in downtown Petoskey, Michigan. An old black truck carrying barrels waits at the curb before the red brick front, with more barrels set beside the white columns and tall blue windows. Roman once lived half a block away and was a regular; his family even bought all the store’s cheese to make fondue from scratch, and it worked. Peach clouds stream across a lavender sky in thick, quick strokes.
