A stand of birch trees opens like a window onto the water, their pale trunks washed in violet against a sky going coral and rose at last light. Black-eyed susans and daisies crowd the foreground in a riot of color, the oil pastel marks settling into the paint to give the whole scene a restless, electric energy. Reproduced from the original oil and oil pastel painting by Roman.
